How do I program Extension Status?

How to program Extension Status (ES1, ES2, ES0) in Hotel Mode.
 

Use this procedure to specify that the Extension Status (ES) feature is used in Hotel mode. The calling mode affects the meaning of the LEDs and the use of Auto Dial or DSS buttons when the DLC operator position is in Extension Status mode.

Extension Status LED Status Meaning
0 Off
Room is occupied and telephone is in regular call handling state.
1 Flashing
Room is unoccupied and ready for cleaning; outside calls cannot be made from telephone.
2 On
Room is vacant and outside calls cannot be made from telephone.

 

To allow users in Hotel mode to dial emergency or other selected numbers when the telephone is in Status 1 or 2, access must be assigned to an Allowed List.

Extension Status is available on all releases.

Telephones: All.

Factory setting: Group Calling/CMS mode.

Programming Codes:

Telephones can be changed to Status 0 (regular call handling) only from the operator console.

To administer Extension Status Mode for Hotel from the System Programming console or through System Programming and Maintenance (SPM):

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press System Program.
  3. Press Exit or Start.
  4. Press Options.
  5. Press Ext Status.
  6. Press Hotel.
  7. Press Enter.
  8. Press Exit or Back.
  9. Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode.

In Hotel Mode the DLC can change the status of an extension either by using a programmed button (ES1, ES2 or ES0) then press the Auto Dial or DSS button for the telephone. Extension Status must be active on the DLC in order to work.

To activate Extension Status on DLC from the System Programming console or through System Programming and Maintenance (SPM):

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press System Program.
  3. Press Exit or Start.
  4. Press Extensions.
  5. Press More or Right Arrow Key.
  6. Press Ext Status.
  7. Dial the DLC extension number.
  8. Press Enter.
  9. Press Exit or Back.
  10. Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode.

Use the procedure below to program Extension Status buttons:

On an ETR, MLS, MLX or 4400-series phone:

  1. Press Feature or # and dial 00 to enter programming mode.
  2. Press the button you want to program for Extension Status and dial the appropriate code as listed above.
  3. Press Feature or # and dial *00 to exit programming mode.

On an MLX display phone:

  1. Press Menu to enter programming mode.
  2. Press Ext Program.
  3. Press Start and then press the button you want to program. If a feature is already administered on the button, press Delete to remove that feature.
  4. Press the button again.
  5. Press List Feature and select the feature to be programmed. If the desired feature is not a choice, press More or Right Arrow Key until the feature is displayed.
  6. Once you have located the feature, press the button next to it and then press Enter.
  7. Press Exit or Back.
  8. Press Home or Exit to exit programming mode.

 

How to program Extension Status in Group Calling/CMS mode.
 

Use this procedure to specify that the Extension Status (ES) feature is used in Group Calling/Call Management System (CMS) mode. The calling mode affects the meaning of the LEDs and the use of Auto Dial or DSS buttons when the DLC operator position is in Extension Status mode.

Extension Status can be used by an operator or a calling group or Call Management System (CMS) supervisor with a Direct-Line Console (DLC). In Calling Group/CMS, A calling group or CMS supervisor can use Extension Status to monitor the availability of agents who can take calls directed to the calling group.

0 Off
Telephone is signed out from the group, and member is unavailable to take calls.
1 Flashing
Used for CMS only. Telephone is in the after-call work state; group member is unavailable to take calls.
2 On
Telephone is signed into the group; calls can be sent to group member.
