Why is my 7444 model phone doing strange things? I hear extra tones and the display isn't right.

The 7444 model phone has three tiny switches on the bottom of the phone. If they are set incorrectly, the phone may show some odd symptoms. The switches are clear plastic and can be seen on the bottom of the phone near the front. All three switches would fit inside a fingernail. They are moved with a soft lead pencil.

If the voice terminal is administered as a 7407D, the S1 switch on the back of the 7444 voice terminal must be in the OFF position.

If the voice terminal is administered as a 7405D or a 7434 voice terminal, the S1 switch on the back of the 7444 voice terminal must be in the ON position. Only one line of the display will show.

The middle button is for use with a recorder interface. If this switch is on when the phone is not equipped with a recorder, the user will hear beeps.
